Vineyard
progress so far
It is now our seventh year
(2009) of viticulture here in Newfoundland
and we are making progress, even if it is at a very slow rate. Two years taken
to obtain permission to use Crown
Land (had to apply
twice), one and a half years to have a survey completed, we are now waiting for
the deed. While we wait we are concentrating on propagating those varieties
that did very well here and will be planted in greater numbers once we have our
deed and the land cleared. We have eliminated several varieties that did not
excel, or were not producing well in our climate.We
are also continuing to add other crops and plants to our inventory. The winery
building is on hold at this time, no commercial wine is being produced however
small test batches on wine are still being made and evaluated.
The
Nursery
We continue to grow
bamboo, willows, grasses, grapevines and have added some very interesting
ornamental landscape plants and trees for those who are looking for something a
little different.
